Chemical precipitation of copper powder for P/M applications
Abstract
Cementation of copper from metallic iron was applied to produce fine particles with a suitable morphology for application in powder metallurgy. A semi-continuous procedure was employed with and without the use of ultrasound during the reaction. Copper particles obtained were aggregates of dendritic primary particles, with average particle size of 10 μm, volume based. The presence of ultrasound resulted in smaller particles.
