Shield effectiveness of a metallic box with apertures: Electromagnetic field configuration
Abstract
Metallic boxes are used to protect electronic equipment from spurious electromagnetic Interference. In many situations these boxes present apertures that reduce their shield effectiveness allowing undesirable electromagnetic Meld coupling to the Interior of the box. The knowledge of the electromagnetic field coupling inside a metallic enclosure Is relevant information for hardware designers. A TLM-based procedure was developed to obtain the electromagnetic field maps for shield effectiveness evaluation at every point of Interest.
